The National Court of Honor has introduced a new award honoring non-Scouters for significant contributions to the BSA at all levels. The North Star Award, which is on par with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award presented to distinguished Scouters, may be used to recognize a range of contributions, such as donations of land for the creation of new facilities. This medal is the highest recognition that a Scout can earn for exemplary achievement, experience, and skill in multiple areas of outdoor endeavor. This challenging award requires earning at least three of the National Outdoor Achievement segments, planning and leading a trek, earning Wilderness First Aid, and becoming a Leave No Trace Trainer as well as several other requirements.
