As they use this pamphlet to earn the Family Life merit badge, Scouts learn the family is the basic unit of society and is important to both individuals and communities.
They will realize why it is important to know more about family life, how to strengthen their families, and how to effectively explain and discuss:
• How the actions of one family member can affect other members
• How to conduct a family meeting that could include the topics of substance abuse, the growing-up process, body changes, making responsible decisions about sex, personal and family finances, family crisis situations, effects of technology, and proper etiquette and manners
• What makes an effective father and why
• Thoughts on the father’s role in the family, including the responsibilities of a parent

Such a natural way to show your gratitude! Each plaque has been hand-crafted in South Dakota using solid elm wood salvaged from downed trees.
The natural wood slice is then laser-engraved with the Universal Emblem and lettering reading: “In Sincere Appreciation of Your Commitment and Contribution to Scouting.”
Each plaque includes a brass-finish engraving plate measuring 3¼" x 1½" for personalization (engraving not included).
This is an all-natural wood plaque, so each piece is unique in size, grain, and color. No two pieces are alike. Overall plaque size will range from 7"-10" high x 7"-11" wide. Each slice is approximately ¾" thick.
Sturdy paper-board three-ring binder.
The “mark of the Wolf” shows up on front, with claw-slash graphics and “Cub Scouts” lettering in yellow on the blue front cover. Back cover features distressed wolf-head graphic in yellow. Spine reads “Cub Scouts” and includes the Cub Scouts logo.
